What is PTA and what does PTA do?
Locally, the Huff PTA consists of people like you (concerned parents, students, teachers, and community members) who provide leadership, funding, and support to our school community. On the state and national levels, PTA is the largest volunteer organization dedicated to improving the education, health, and welfare of children and families.
We are new to Huff School and don’t even know what PTA is. Should we join? Of course, and why wait? Huff PTA is a successful and necessary asset to the Huff community. Join today and you will quickly learn how PTA can help your child and how you can help PTA. We value and need your fresh perspective. Provide your input early and your child will benefit throughout his/her entire Huff career.
Who can join? Anyone can join Huff PTA. Our members are parents, students, teachers, administrators, grandparents, and community members.
What about meetings? Attending meetings is not mandatory, but is a great opportunity to get information on upcoming school events and to give your input on the direction and priorities of your PTA. Huff PTA meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 8:30 am in the multi-purpose room (children are welcome).
What about volunteering? PTA appreciates your membership, whether or not you volunteer, because each member increases PTA’s ability to advocate for children and families. It is your commitment as a member that helps PTA make a difference in the lives and education of children.
How can I volunteer? I have 4 kids…I work full-time…I travel frequently... We have a wide variety of volunteer opportunities based on your interests and time available. While we have some volunteers who are able to donate many hours a week, equally important are those many others who give what they can, an hour per week or contribute special jobs here or there. Contact our volunteer coordinator Leann Perriera at VPVolunteers@huffpta.com, who will help you find the perfect volunteer opportunity.
Will I get a lot of phone calls? We won’t call you! Include your email on your PTA membership form to receive any important PTA updates and information.
Should I contribute to both PTA and MVEF? Definitely yes! Each organization financially supports different components of your child’s education. Working together, PTA and MVEF provide essential and enriching programs for your child.
Where do your PTA $Dollars$ go?
Fantastic Education! 4th and 5th grade chorus, honor choir, assemblies, classroom newspaper and magazines, environmental education.
Families! Science night, Book Fair, and cultural heritage events.
Field Trips! Lawrence Hall of Science, Mission San Juan Bautista, SF Zoo, Gold Country, Deer Hollow Farm, and more.
Fun! Hawkfest, Book Fair, Kinder Social, Summer Social
Facilities! Computers and printers, library books, art display cases, campus beautification.
Fundamentals! Classroom reimbursement (extra money for teachers to spend on their classrooms).
Flora! Huff Garden lunchtime garden club and classroom activities.
